Google Buzz
This is the latest Buzzword!
I am not using much of the blogging tools – neither I use many microblogging tools, just for the simple reason – I have to find yet another page, site, login etc…
I simply use Google’s email.
As usual, I log in to my account …
… behold what’s this? A new screen, asking for if I wanted to use Buzz… well I have no idea… but can guess… and finally decide to give it a try. I go ahead…
Moments later… I realize… they have come up with something close to (not clone of) Facebook / Twitter sort of quick posting / update / sharing… in essence quick micro blogging sort of tool…
Well… at first thought I feel that Google is late…and might be a copy cat…
A day later… when I give a thought to it – I realize they can be way ahead…
Posisitive Points in Favour of Google
Reason – Simple…For any communication today, we eventually land up in E-mail. Even though with Twitter / FB / Blogger etc. many a times (most of the time) we are intimated via email then we go to that page or site. What Google has very intelligently done is – Integration of it right in the email.
Now, you don’t go anywhere else. Same interface works…. and so you can’t escape…
Moreover, the offer goes to all Gmail user – many would sign up at first site… then they immediately get connected, immediately get followers and immediately become followers… that is – simply by tapping the power of existing email connections, and deploying within the existing email interface Google will have exponential increase immediately.
Can we have the stats of Buzz users ? I’ll try and I predict it should shoot up rather quickly, very quickly.
Possible Future UI, Privacy and Feature Enhancements
There is a lot of scope for improvements in UI, privacy, more settings and options. I hope all this will follow. The initial user base will be established sooner than many would anticipate. Google ought to improve Privacy aspects and UI before it’s too late.
Facebook is Different, yet some comparison is worthy of a note.
For now, facebook is different. it’s a whole environment. They have more accurate user profiles. You actually begon with a user profile there. It’s not so with Google – at least not much of it is mandatory. FB has a strong demographic data. Google has huge base of email users, contact database, email content (to auto parse and deliver relevant info later) Facebook is aesthetically appealing. Google has strong history of releasing coherent APIs and mechanism for users to develop inter-application code for Google’s services.
This is all for now. Let’s see
